The series Not All Shadows Are Black was inspired by a tarot card reading in which I drew a card with a large red figure hovering behind a witch. The figure made me feel a sense of intimidation and fear. When I shared this, the tarot card reader responded, "Maybe something for you to consider is that not all shadows are black".
This series of works is a reminder that we can harness our shadows as our power, instead of our achilles' heel. There is nothing to fear in the shadows - rather, we might consider what would change in us if we embraced the magic in the darkness we cast as we intercept light.
